Momentous review: what is in the lineup, and what the research supports
Momentous is a third-party-certified performance and healthy-aging line. We read every label, matched each dose to the human research, and priced every serving so you can decide which products are worth it for you.
Our verdict
- Best for: people who want certified, single-ingredient basics (creatine, magnesium, omega-3, protein) at the doses research uses.
- Standout: every product we checked shows NSF Certified for Sport or Informed Sport on its own page, and batch Certificates of Analysis are published.
- Watch out for: premium prices, a few products ahead of the evidence (apigenin, root-powder tongkat ali), and a 5,000 IU vitamin D above the US upper limit.

Testing and certifications
Momentous states that every product is independently certified by NSF Certified for Sport or Informed Sport and that it publishes every batch result. We confirmed the certification line on each product page below; Tongkat Ali is the one certified through Informed Sport rather than NSF.
- NSF Certified for Sport: Stated on 11 of the 14 product pages we list (creatine, whey, omega-3, both magnesiums, Nightly Sleep, L-theanine, apigenin, Alpha GPC, collagen, Longevity); the Ashwagandha and Vitamin D3 pages say "NSF Certified" in their titles. NSF screens for banned substances and checks label accuracy. source
- Informed Sport: Tongkat Ali is certified batch by batch through Informed Sport (LGC). source
- Certificates of Analysis: Batch CoAs are downloadable on the site, filterable by product and batch number. source
- IFOS (omega-3): The brand lists IFOS among its certifications, and the Omega-3 page mentions it. source

Every product, label vs research

Strength and training
Momentous Creatine (90 servings)
Unflavored creatine monohydrate powder (Momentous calls its spec "Signature Spec"; made in a pharmaceutical facility, per the brand).
- On the label · per 1 scoop (5 g)
- Creatine monohydrate 5 g
- What the research used
- 3–5 g a day after an optional loading week; 5 g/day is the amount behind most strength and lean-mass results.
Evidence: A · strong. The most-studied sports supplement. Meta-analyses show more strength and lean mass when it is paired with resistance training, and a 2024 meta-analysis of 16 trials found small memory gains.
Who it fits: Anyone lifting or training who wants the best-evidenced basic. Women over 40 and vegetarians are well studied.

Protein
Momentous Whey Protein Isolate
Grass-fed whey protein isolate from European dairy, with the digestive enzyme ProHydrolase added.
- On the label · per 1 scoop
- 20 g whey protein isolate per scoop (page states 20 g protein; the page shows ingredients, not a full panel)
- What the research used
- Protein supplements help muscle gains mainly by lifting total daily protein; in a large meta-analysis the benefit levelled off around 1.6 g per kg of body weight a day.
Evidence: A · strong. A 2018 meta-analysis of 49 trials found protein supplementation increased strength and lean-mass gains from resistance training, with a plateau near 1.6 g/kg/day total protein.
Who it fits: People who train and struggle to reach their protein target from food. Not needed if your diet already covers it.

Daily foundation
Momentous Omega-3
Fish-oil softgels from a single Norwegian fishery, EPA and DHA in a 1:1 ratio.
- On the label · per 2 softgels
- EPA 800 mg + DHA 800 mg (1,600 mg combined)
- What the research used
- Trials have used about 0.5 g to more than 5 g of EPA + DHA a day; most large supplement trials tested about 1 g/day. This label sits in the studied range.
Evidence: B · moderate. A Cochrane review of 86 trials found triglycerides fell about 15%, dose-dependently; effects on heart and blood-vessel events were small or absent. Buy it for a reason you have discussed with your clinician, not as insurance.
Who it fits: People who rarely eat oily fish. Talk to your clinician first if you take blood thinners or have atrial fibrillation.

Sleep and cognition
Momentous Magnesium L-Threonate
Magtein, the patented magnesium L-threonate form studied for sleep and cognition.
- On the label · per 3 capsules
- 2 g Magtein magnesium L-threonate (145 mg elemental magnesium)
- What the research used
- 2 g/day Magtein for 6 weeks (100 adults with poor sleep) and 1 g/day for 21 days (80 adults aged 35–55). The label matches the 2 g trial.
Evidence: B · moderate. Two recent randomized trials reported better sleep-tracker scores and, in the 2 g trial, better cognitive-test scores than placebo. Both are small and short.
Who it fits: Adults who want magnesium aimed at sleep quality and focus and do not mind paying more than for glycinate.

Sleep
Momentous Nightly Sleep
Melatonin-free sleep blend: magnesium bisglycinate, L-theanine and apigenin in one serving.
- On the label · per 3 capsules
- Magnesium (as bisglycinate) 200 mg, L-theanine 200 mg, apigenin 50 mg
- What the research used
- Each part separately: 250 mg/day magnesium bisglycinate (2025 trial), 200 mg/day L-theanine (the dose in a 2019 randomized trial); isolated apigenin has no human sleep trial. The blend itself has not been trialed.
Evidence: C · limited. Magnesium and L-theanine each have modest randomized-trial support; apigenin rests on a chamomile-extract pilot that did not move total sleep time. Graded on the weakest link.
Who it fits: People who want one jar instead of three bottles and prefer to avoid melatonin.

Sleep
Momentous Magnesium Bisglycinate
Gentle, well-absorbed magnesium bisglycinate capsules.
- On the label · per 2 capsules
- Magnesium (as bisglycinate) 200 mg
- What the research used
- 250 mg/day elemental magnesium as bisglycinate for 4 weeks in 155 adults with poor sleep; older trials used up to 500 mg/day.
Evidence: B · moderate. The 2025 trial found a small extra drop in insomnia-severity scores versus placebo; effects are largest in people who run low.
Who it fits: The cheapest way into the Momentous sleep line. Ask first if you have kidney disease.

Calm focus and sleep
Momentous L-Theanine
The tea amino acid, one 200 mg capsule per serving.
- On the label · per 1 capsule
- L-theanine 200 mg
- What the research used
- 200 mg/day for 4 weeks in healthy adults (2019 randomized trial). The 2025 sleep meta-analysis of 18 trials says the best dose is still unsettled, and many of its trials did not use pure L-theanine.
Evidence: B · moderate. Randomized trials show modest improvements in self-rated stress and sleep quality.
Who it fits: Coffee drinkers who want smoother focus, or anyone adding a non-sedating wind-down step.

Sleep
Momentous Apigenin
Apigenin (from grapefruit), the chamomile flavonoid popularized by sleep podcasts.
- On the label · per 1 capsule
- Apigenin 50 mg
- What the research used
- No randomized trial of isolated apigenin for sleep in people. The closest is a chamomile extract (270 mg twice daily) pilot in 34 adults.
Evidence: D · preliminary. The chamomile pilot did not significantly improve total sleep time; most of the rationale is from animal and receptor studies.
Who it fits: Experimenters who already have the basics (sleep schedule, magnesium) and want to test it on themselves.

Focus and power
Momentous Alpha GPC
Alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine, a choline source used for focus and training output.
- On the label · per 1 capsule
- Alpha GPC 300 mg
- What the research used
- 600 mg/day for 6 days raised lower-body isometric force versus placebo in 13 college-aged men. One capsule is half that dose.
Evidence: C · limited. One small crossover trial in young men; upper-body force did not change significantly.
Who it fits: People building their own focus or pre-training stack with disclosed doses.

Stress
Momentous Ashwagandha
NooGandha ashwagandha extract, standardized to 3.5% withanolides.
- On the label · per 1 capsule (label allows 1–2 a day)
- NooGandha ashwagandha extract 300 mg (3.5% withanolides)
- What the research used
- Trials used a wide range of doses of various standardized extracts; a dose-response analysis favored 300–600 mg/day for stress. Extracts are not interchangeable, and NooGandha is not one of the extracts in the main meta-analyses.
Evidence: B · moderate. A 2022 meta-analysis of 12 trials found lower stress and anxiety scores than placebo, with low certainty and very mixed trials.
Who it fits: Adults with day-to-day stress. Skip it if pregnant or breastfeeding; ask first if you have a liver or thyroid condition.

Hormone support
Momentous Tongkat Ali
Whole-root Eurycoma longifolia powder from Indonesia (not an extract).
- On the label · per 2 capsules
- Tongkat ali root powder 400 mg
- What the research used
- Trials used standardized hot-water root extracts, for example 200 mg/day (stress hormones, 63 adults) and 400 mg/day (25 older adults). Root powder is not the same thing as those extracts.
Evidence: C · limited. A 2022 meta-analysis of 5 small trials found higher total testosterone with extracts, in healthy men and in a subgroup of men with low levels. Evidence for root powder specifically is lacking.
Who it fits: Men curious about it who accept thin evidence. Anyone with a hormone-sensitive condition should ask a clinician first.

Daily foundation
Momentous Vitamin D3 5000 IU
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol from lanolin), one high-dose capsule.
- On the label · per 1 capsule
- Vitamin D3 125 mcg (5,000 IU)
- What the research used
- Trials ranged from 400 to 10,000 IU/day. The adult upper limit set by US experts is 4,000 IU/day, so 5,000 IU daily is above it.
Evidence: A · strong. D3 reliably raises blood vitamin D; whether you need 5,000 IU depends on your blood level. Momentous also sells a 2,000 IU version.
Who it fits: People whose clinician has confirmed low vitamin D. Everyone else: the 2,000 IU version or a blood test first.

- On the label · per 1 scoop
- Collagen peptides 11.6 g + FORTIGEL collagen hydrolysate 5.2 g + vitamin C 50 mg (panel values; marketing copy says 10 g + 5 g)
- What the research used
- 10 g/day collagen hydrolysate for 24 weeks in athletes with activity-related joint discomfort; 15 g vitamin C-enriched gelatin an hour before loading exercise in a small crossover study.
Evidence: C · limited. Small human studies; the label dose covers both studied amounts.
Who it fits: Active people loading tendons and joints who want an easy daily scoop.

Healthy aging (NAD+)
Momentous Longevity
Six-part healthy-aging formula built around Niagen nicotinamide riboside (NR), with NAC, betaine, PQQ, vitamin C and B vitamins.
- On the label · per 3 capsules
- Niagen NR 500 mg, NAC 600 mg, betaine 600 mg, PQQ 20 mg, vitamin C 200 mg, niacinamide 28 mg, folate 600 mcg, B12 6 mcg
- What the research used
- NR raised blood NAD+ at 1,000 mg/day (500 mg twice daily) in middle-aged and older adults. This formula gives 500 mg NR; the combination itself has not been trialed.
Evidence: C · limited. NR reliably raises NAD+ in blood; trials have not yet shown clear functional benefits. The other ingredients are present at modest doses.
Who it fits: People who want NR plus methyl-donor support in one product and prefer an NSF-certified option.

Pros and cons
What we like
- Certification on every product we checked, with batch CoAs you can look up.
- Single-ingredient products at doses that match the research (creatine 5 g, Magtein 2 g, L-theanine 200 mg).
- No proprietary blends, so you can see exactly how much of each ingredient you get.
- Steady 25% subscription discount on the items we list, plus 10% off a first order.
What to watch
- Premium pricing: the same creatine or magnesium costs less from many brands.
- Some products run ahead of the evidence (apigenin has no human sleep trial; tongkat ali is root powder, not the studied extract).
- Vitamin D3 5,000 IU is above the 4,000 IU adult upper limit for daily use without testing.
- Whey page lists ingredients and protein grams rather than a full facts panel.
Safety notes
- Magnesium: stay within 350 mg/day from supplements unless your clinician says otherwise; ask first with kidney disease.
- Omega-3: tell your clinician if you take blood thinners or have atrial fibrillation.
- Ashwagandha: avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding; rare liver injury has been reported, so stop and seek care if you notice jaundice or dark urine.
- Vitamin D3 5,000 IU: above the adult upper limit; use it with a blood test and your clinician’s advice.
- Supplements can interact with prescription medicines. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
