The cheapest legitimate ways to pay for TRT

Testosterone itself is cheap. With a prescription from your own clinician, Costco Pharmacy lists generic testosterone cypionate 200 mg/mL at $49.49 for one 1 mL vial or $60.99 for two (member price, checked Oct 7, 2026), which covers about four weeks at 100 mg a week. Labs, visits and syringes are extra, and it is a Schedule III controlled substance, so the prescriber must hold a DEA registration. Online clinics bundle all of that; the lowest-priced ones are below.

If you have insurance, a covered visit and your plan's copay for generic testosterone cypionate is often cheaper still.

First charge = one-time fees plus the first billing block. First 90 days = cash paid on the provider's billing calendar. 12-month = one-time fees + 12 months of the plan price + scheduled extras (like follow-up labs). "not published" means the provider's own pages don't say; we never fill the gap with a guess. Full math: methodology.

The 4 cost buckets

  • Membership or care fee. Hone's Premium membership is $155/mo before medication. Most other clinics fold care into one price.
  • Medication and supplies. Included in the plan price at PeterMD and DudeMeds kits; billed on top at Hone (from $28/mo for injections).
  • Labs. Included at BrightMeds. Elsewhere $65–$149 to start, and repeat labs can cost again.
  • Extras and terms. HCG ($300–$301 per vial at DudeMeds and PeterMD), estrogen blockers, and prepaid terms: the lowest rates at PeterMD, Maximus and Hims need 10–12-month plans.

Cost by delivery method

  • Injections: the cheapest form here, from $79/mo on long plans (PeterMD, DudeMeds).
  • Cream: Hone lists cream from $60/mo plus membership.
  • Oral: Kyzatrex is an FDA-approved oral testosterone; MangoRx sells a separate "Prime" oral tablet. Enclomiphene is not testosterone; see enclomiphene costs.
  • Pellets: in-person only; none of the online clinics we list offer them.

Insurance vs cash vs HSA/FSA

Every online TRT clinic in our list is cash-pay; none says it bills insurance for TRT. Several accept HSA/FSA cards. If you have insurance, an in-network doctor and a generic testosterone cypionate prescription filled at a pharmacy may cost less than any subscription; the cash price of the generic is in the cheapest options section above.

Red flags in TRT pricing

  • A headline monthly price that needs 10–12 months, sometimes paid upfront.
  • Membership and medication billed separately, so the advertised price is only half the bill.
  • Prices that appear only in page metadata or only after you pay (BrightMeds shows TRT only as "$75 per week" in its page title).
  • Billing that starts before a clinician approves you, or no refunds once medication ships (PeterMD, DudeMeds).
  • No labs before a testosterone prescription.

FAQ

How much does TRT cost per month online?

Across 10 priced plans from 7 clinics (checked Oct 7, 2026), the plan price runs $79 to $326 a month, with a median of about $104. Labs, a membership or a long prepaid term can sit on top.

How much does TRT cost without insurance for a year?

Using each clinic's own published prices, a year of online TRT ranges from about $1,043 (PeterMD, injections, 12-month plan, with its first lab panel) to about $3,910.71. Most of these clinics are cash-pay.

Why is the first charge so much higher than the monthly price?

Some clinics bill several months at once or add lab fees up front. The highest first charge we found is $396 at DudeMeds (testosterone Commit Kit + estrogen blocker, paid quarterly, with labs).

What is the cheapest way to get TRT?

With a prescription from your own clinician, generic testosterone cypionate is $49.49 for one 1 mL vial (200 mg) or $60.99 for two at Costco Pharmacy (member price, checked Oct 7, 2026), plus labs, visits and syringes. Among online clinics that bundle care, CoreAge Rx lists TRT as low as $129/mo (coming soon) and MangoRx $149/mo.

Can I use my HSA or FSA for online TRT?

Several clinics say yes (PeterMD, Hone, Maximus), Hims says no. Your plan administrator decides what counts as an eligible expense.

Are follow-up labs included?

Hone Premium includes labs every 3 months, and BrightMeds says labs are included. Elsewhere, budget $65–$149 for the first panel and ask whether follow-up labs cost extra.
