Key takeaways

5 points
  • Function Health scored highest (96/100): about $30 a month (billed $365 a year) for 160+ lab tests over two draws at Quest, clinician review included, and a medically credentialed founding team12.
  • Superpower (87) matches Function on price per marker but is younger and settled a false-advertising suit Function brought over its biomarker count34.
  • Mito Health (80) is the cheapest way to buy a single test or a broad panel without an annual bundle, but it is a small, young company with $4M raised56.
  • Ulta Lab Tests (75) has the longest clean track record of the five: selling tests since 2013, BBB A+ and no lawsuits found7.
  • Biomarker counts are each company’s own and are not directly comparable: some count calculated ratios and urinalysis items as separate markers.

The five picks

Ranked by total score. Prices are the broadest standard blood panel each company sells, with required fees added (membership, draw or physician fee), read on each company’s own pages on Oct 13, 2026. Medals go only to the top three scores of 80 or more.

  • 1. Function Health, 96/100 (gold): about $30 a month (billed $365 a year) for 160+ lab tests across two rounds, about $2.28 per test, with clinician review and draws at Quest1. Co-founded by Mark Hyman, MD, founder of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, and CEO Jonathan Swerdlin; a $298M Series B in Nov 202528. Not in New York or New Jersey.
  • 2. Superpower, 87/100 (silver): about $29 a month (billed $349 a year) for 150+ biomarkers across a baseline and a retest at Quest, about $2.33 per marker by its own count3. Founded by Jacob Peters, Max Marchione and Kevin Unkrich, with a $30M Series A led by Forerunner9. Function sued it in Jan 2026 claiming the count overstates direct lab measurements; the case was dismissed in June 2026 after the two settled, with no ruling410.
  • 3. Mito Health, 80/100 (bronze): the 166-biomarker Pro Panel is $323.88 at Quest for members ($9 a month or $99 a year) plus a $15 draw fee, about $2.64 per marker with the membership counted; non-members pay $453.5751112. Founded in 2023 by Seedly co-founders Kenneth Lou and Tee-Ming Chew with Joel Kek and Ryan Ware; $4M raised in total136.
  • 4. Ulta Lab Tests, 75/100: pay per panel, no membership. Its Comprehensive baseline panel (117 biomarkers) is $449.95 plus a $12.95 draw fee, about $3.96 per marker; Ulta says it uses Quest exclusively, includes the doctor’s order and has results physician-reviewed141516. Run since 2013 by CEO and co-founder John Roehm with Nick Roehm and Brandon Sunde; BBB-accredited since 2013, rated A+177.
  • 5. Everlywell, 71/100: Everlywell 360 is about $33 a month (billed $399 a year) for one 83-biomarker test at Quest with a clinician-reviewed care plan, about $4.81 per marker18. Founded by Julia Cheek in 2015, more than $250M raised1920. Points off for class actions over its IgG food sensitivity test and a privacy notice that lists health data as used for marketing212223.

Also scored: Quest Health, InsideTracker and HealthLabs.com

Quest Health (68/100), Quest Diagnostics’ consumer store: the Elite Health Profile is $399 plus a $6 physician service fee for 85+ indicators, about $4.76 each, with PWNHealth physicians ordering the test and reviewing results2425. It loses points for a 2019 billing-vendor breach that exposed data of about 11.9 million Quest patients, and because Quest says its consumer arm, Quest Consumer Inc., does not provide HIPAA-covered services2627.

InsideTracker (65/100): founded by aging researcher Gil Blander, PhD, and selling since 2013, but its first test is $489 for up to 54 biomarkers (about $9.06 each), and it says its recommendations pass a review by its science team; it does not say a clinician reviews results28293031.

HealthLabs.com (57/100), run by Analyte Health in Houston: pay per test with no membership; its doctors issue the lab order and you walk in at a partner lab such as Quest or Labcorp3637. Its broadest wellness panel, the Comprehensive Male Wellness Panel, is $939 for about 57 analytes by our count of the tests it lists (HealthLabs gives no biomarker total), about $16.47 each, so it scores low on price per marker, breadth and retest34. Its smaller panels cost far less: the $99 Comprehensive Health Panel covers a CBC, CMP, lipid panel, urinalysis, thyroid panel and iron35. Its wellness panel pages do not say a clinician reviews results, it takes no insurance, and it keeps 20% if you cancel before your lab visit36. Founder and CEO Fiyyaz Pirani started HealthLabs in 2015; private-equity firm Brightstar Capital Partners bought Analyte Health in Aug 2025 on undisclosed terms4138. It loses privacy points because its policy says it uses the pages you visit to target its ads, though it says it does not sell personal information39. BBB rates Analyte Health A+ and lists 108 complaints in three years40. Not available in North Dakota, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Maryland or Hawaii.

Where Mito Health lands, and why

Mito is our affiliate partner and the owner of Kymata Health uses it, so we hold it to the same rubric and show every deduction. Its value is strong: full marks for breadth, a low price per marker on its Quest pricing and clinician review included. It loses points on the company side.

Founders: Kenneth Lou and Tee-Ming Chew co-founded Seedly, a personal-finance community sold to ShopBack in 2018; Joel Kek led engineering on Singapore’s TraceTogether; and Ryan Ware was described in 2023 as a doctor in Singapore public hospitals13. Mito’s own About page now lists Ware as an advisor and notes he is not licensed to practice medicine in any US state32. With no founder holding a US clinical license, we score founders on business track record (7 of 10), not medical credentials.

Funding and age: $4M raised in total, including Y Combinator; founded in 2023633. Prices vary a lot by lab: the same Pro Panel is $586.54 for members at Labcorp5.

  • Mito score breakdown: price per marker 16/20, breadth 10/10, retest 4/10, clinician review 5/5, lab 15/15, founders 7/10, funding 5/8, years 4/8, privacy 6/6, legal 8/8 = 80/100.

Which one fits you

Testing a broad panel twice a year: an annual bundle (Function or Superpower) costs least per marker on these prices. One broad panel a year, or a few single markers: pay-per-test services (Mito, Ulta, Quest Health) avoid paying for a second round you will not use. A result is a number, not a diagnosis; take anything out of range to a clinician who knows your history.

For a single test before you supplement, see where to order your own blood work.

How we make money and how this was checked

How we make money: Mito Health, Everlywell and HealthLabs.com are affiliate partners, so Kymata Health may earn a commission if you buy through their links on this page, at no extra cost to you; the owner of Kymata Health also pays for a Mito membership. We have no affiliate relationship with Function Health, Superpower, Ulta Lab Tests, Quest Health or InsideTracker. Payment never changes a score: every service is scored on the same published rubric.

How this was checked: researched and written by our editorial team from each company’s own pages, court records and press coverage, read on Oct 13, 2026. It is not medical advice.

Where to buy

Clinics and services

  • Mito Health: Pay-per-test lab marketplace: members ($9/mo or $99/yr) pay Mito’s cost on 1,000+ tests at Quest, Labcorp or BioReference, with clinician review. Scored 80/100 on our rubric.

See Mito test prices (paid link, opens in new tab)
  • Everlywell: Everlywell 360: about $33 a month (billed $399 a year) for one 83-biomarker test a year at Quest with a clinician-reviewed care plan. Scored 71/100. We do not recommend its IgG food sensitivity test.

See Everlywell's lab tests (paid link, opens in new tab)
  • HealthLabs.com: Pay per test with no membership: its doctors issue the lab order and you walk in at a partner lab such as Quest or Labcorp. Single tests start low (total testosterone $49, A1c $29 on Oct 14, 2026), but its broadest wellness panel is $939, so it scored 57/100 on our rubric. Not available in NY, NJ, RI, MD, ND or HI.
