8 more inclusion criteria and the exclusion criteria are on the listing.
This phase II trial tests how well fucoidan works in preventing chemotherapy-related fatigue compared to a placebo in patients with gastrointestinal (GI), gynecological (GYN), breast, or lung cancer. Fatigue poses a burden in patients with malignancies undergoing systemic chemotherapy. Fucoidan is a dietary supplement made of complex sugar that contain sulfate groups attached to their sugar units (sulfated polysaccharide) which found in brown seaweed. It is thought to have anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-thrombotic, anti-diabetic, and anti-tumor effects in pre-clinical models. The full summary is on the listing.

Registered summary
The global ageing population is increasingly affected by age-related diseases, which are challenging healthcare systems. Current treatments often extend lifespan without improving healthspan. The geroscience hypothesis suggests that targeting the ageing process could prevent or delay multiple diseases, enhancing healthspan. Fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide from brown macroalgae, is a safe dietary supplement with Sirtuin-6 (SIRT6) activating properties, which are linked to longevity. Registered summary
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by joint destruction and autoantibody production. Scavenger receptor-A (SR-A), a pattern recognition receptor primarily expressed on myeloid-derived cells, is significantly elevated in the serum of RA patients. Genetic knockout of SR-A completely protects mice from collagen-induced arthritis (CIA). As an SR-A inhibitor, fucoidan markedly suppresses the progression of CIA in mice. As the population ages, the growing prevalence of age-related diseases is creating substantial challenges for healthcare systems worldwide. Current therapeutic strategies often target individual diseases and decrease mortality without improving healthspan. The geroscience hypothesis suggests that targeting the ageing process itself could prevent, delay, or manage the severity of multiple age-related diseases concurrently, thereby improving overall healthspan and reducing healthcare burdens. The full summary is on the listing.
