  1. Grade BPost-meal glucose after a rice meal (dose-response) · Improved

    RCT, 2 studies · n 168 · 2023 · Healthy Indian men and women aged 20 to 50 (two trials of 84)

    0.04 to 1.5 g with about 50 g carbohydrate · Single meals

Trial 1: every dose from 0.37 to 1.5 g lowered 2-hour glucose by 22.9 to 27.2% and insulin by 14.0 to 34.6% vs control. Trial 2: only 0.37 g was effective (glucose -20.4%, insulin -17.0%); 0.04 and 0.12 g were not. Gastrointestinal symptoms were uniformly low.

  2. Grade CPost-meal glucose across four rice types · Improved

    Crossover RCT · n 120 · 2023 · Healthy, normal-weight Indian adults

    0.37 g with about 50 g carbohydrate · Single meals

Across all rice types the extract lowered 2-hour glucose by 11.4% (P < 0.003) and insulin by 10.1% (P < 0.001); for individual rice types the glucose effect was significant for one of four.

  3. Grade CPost-meal glucose: extract vs pure DNJ · Improved

    Crossover RCT · n 84 · 2025 · Healthy adults

    0.75 g with a 50 g-carbohydrate rice meal · Single meals

Pure DNJ was bioequivalent to the extract for lowering post-meal glucose (ratio 0.903, 90% CI 0.801 to 1.019); both lowered glucose and insulin vs placebo, more strongly with the extract.

  4. Grade CPost-meal glucose: mulberry fruit vs 7 other plant extracts · Improved

    RCT · n 65 · 2020 · Healthy adults (72 enrolled, 65 analysed); each received control plus 4 of 8 extracts

    1.5 g with about 50 g carbohydrate · Single meals
