The researchers central hypothesis is that a high EAA to NEAA ratio in a protein meal is related to higher anabolic response to the meal. The researchers also hypothesize that the type of NEAA in a protein meal also affects the anabolic capacity of the meal. The full summary is on the listing.

Obesity, which has a prevalence at 15% in France, is a major public health concern. Altered glycemic control and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are frequently observed in obese patients and lead to reduce the quality of life. In the last decades, the role of gut microbiota and intestinal permeability has been underlined in obesity, glycemic control and IBS. Interestingly, experimental and clinical data show that glutamine, an amino acid, is able to maintain or restore intestinal permeability in different conditions. The full summary is on the listing.

Registered summary

Previous evidence suggests that though N-acetylcysteine (NAC) supplementation following eccentric exercise-induced muscle damage disrupts the skeletal muscle's repair and remodelling process at 8 days of recovery, it attenuates substantially the decline of skeletal muscle performance during the first 48 hours of recovery. The enhanced performance capacity during the first phase of recovery in response to NAC supplementation might be attributed to the altered redox status in skeletal muscle as a consequence of the NAC-mediated elevation of reduced glutathione (GSH) levels. Registered summary

Despite enormous advances in thoracic surgery and oncology, two critical issues concern patients undergoing curative-intent surgery for lung, gastric and esophageal cancer: first, a majority (\~60%) of patients experience minor and major adverse events occurring during and in the days following surgery; second, patients worry about the significant risk of cancer recurrence and mortality months to years after surgery. These issues, combined with side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, have detrimental effects on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The full summary is on the listing.

As the population ages, the growing prevalence of age-related diseases is creating substantial challenges for healthcare systems worldwide. Current therapeutic strategies often target individual diseases and decrease mortality without improving healthspan. The geroscience hypothesis suggests that targeting the ageing process itself could prevent, delay, or manage the severity of multiple age-related diseases concurrently, thereby improving overall healthspan and reducing healthcare burdens.
