Lists people 50 to 70; healthy volunteers accepted. Conditions: Microbiome Dysbiosis; Gut Health.

  • Individuals providing written informed consent for participation in the study and data processing
  • Female and males between 50 and 70 years of age
  • For females only: Menopausal as marked by at least 1 year since the last menstrual bleeding
  • Individuals with a BMI between 18.5 - 29.9 Kg/m2

7 more inclusion criteria and the exclusion criteria are on the listing.

What it tests, as registered

Colon-delivered riboflavin; Conventional riboflavin; Microcrystalline Cellulose

Registered summary

Recent studies suggest B-vitamins such as riboflavin to possess prebiotic-like effects. However, there is still a lack of understanding of the exact host health benefits vs. conventional systemically available vitamin forms. The present study explores the benefit of colon-delivered vitamin B2 vs. conventional vitamin B2 in comparison to placebo in an aging population on gut microbiota and metabolic activity as well as gut health.

What it tests, as registered

Riboflavin 5'-phosphate in 20% dextran ophthalmic solution) 0.146% with UV light; Riboflavin 5'-phosphate in 20% dextran ophthalmic solution) 0.146% without UV light

Registered summary

This randomized clinical trial will assess corneal astigmatism and visual outcomes in participants who have undergone corneal transplantation for keratoconus with ex vivo cross-linked donor corneal tissue versus participants who have undergone corneal transplantation for keratoconus with non-cross-linked donor corneas. Crosslinking is a procedure that stabilizes the biomechanical properties of the cornea; as a result, the cornea stiffens. It has been shown that this procedure stabilizes the cornea of patients with keratoconus or corneal ectasias. The full summary is on the listing.
